Sudhir Choudhrie’s Early Life and Career

Sudhir was born and grew up in Delhi. His father succumbed to death at a tender age, but his mother remained a great caregiver and role model. At eight, he went for a medical examination that proved he had a leaking valve in his heart. This health condition made his heart skip and showed it could lead to failure at any time.

With this rare heart condition, Choudhrie went through a series of other heart-related health concerns. But this did not stop him from being successful. After high school, the London based entrepreneur joined the University of Delhi to pursue a degree in economics. In 1975, Sudhir Choudhrie founded Magnum Trading Company Ltd to explore the emerging export market of India. In 1995, he ventured into the tourism industry with Taj Resorts and Hotels, and from 1999-2005, the London entrepreneur was the director of Ebookers PLC. In 2003, he heavily invested in Air Deccan, which became the leading budget airline in India in five years.
